What is Effexor?
An antidepressant drug. It is also being evaluated for the treatment of hot flashes in women who have breast cancer.
DIRECTIONS:
Tablet - Comes as tablet to take by mouth. Do not split, chew, or crush them. The tablets and capsules should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water.
Liquid – Shake the liquid and pediatric drops well before each use to mix the medication evenly. Use the bottle dropper to measure the dose of pediatric drops. The pediatric drops and liquid may be placed on a child's tongue or added to formula, milk, fruit juice, water, ginger ale or other cold liquid.
STORAGE:
- Keep it in its tightly closed container.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
- Store the capsules and tablets at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
- Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
WARNING:
Before taking Effexor, Advice your Doctor and Pharmacist if you have these following
- If allergic to effexor, citalopram (Celexa) or any other medications.
- If you or anyone in your family has or has ever had depression, bipolar disorder (mood that changes from depressed to abnormally excited), mania (frenzied, abnormally excited mood).
- If you or anyone in your family has thought about or attempted suicide.
- If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
- If you become pregnant while taking effexor, advice your doctor.
- If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking effexor.
- Any medical conditions that may cause side effects upon intake of the prescribe drugs.
